Long-life batteriesThe batteries used with this cordless planer feature the Bosch CoolPack system, which optimises dissipation of heat and so prolongs lifetime by up to 100 per cent compared to packs without it. The batteries are also safeguarded by Bosch Electronic Cell Protection (ECP), which prevents overload, overheating and deep discharge from damaging cells. (Batteries are sold separately.) |

CoolPack Technology
A CoolPack battery from Bosch constantly dissipates any heat outwards due to its special housing geometry with cooling fins. As a result, it remains considerably cooler inside than conventional batteries and remains operational over the entire runtime.

Electronic Cell Protection
To protect against battery damage due to overloading, overheating or total discharge, the tool is supplied with CoolPack batteries featuring Electronic Cell Protection (ECP). ECP, along with CoolPack cooling technology, considerably extends battery lifetime.

Bosch 18 V Battery Compatibility
Batteries can be chosen for longer runtime or lower weight, according to preference, and the tool is compatible with all 18 V, 1.5 to 6.0 Ah units – including Wireless and EneRacer.

Lithium Ion Technology
The Bosch Li-ion batteries supplied with this tool use the latest technology to maximise productivity and avoid trouble. Their advantages include fast charging, which means that a spare battery can typically be charged to at least 80 per cent before you exhaust the one on your tool.

I bought this to replace a 30-year old industrial-strength ELU planer that seized a bearing and ruined the casing (no spares available).I was expecting a significant drop in performance from what is a tiny machine in comparison but it cuts well leaving a good finish and its light weight makes it much easier to use. It won’t take as much wood off in one pass as the ELU but that hasn’t been an issue so far on worktops, doors and panels and the dust extraction is better.I took a punt on this tool based on the my experience with four other tools in the Bosch Professional 18v cordless range and it lives up to my expectations based on the drill, jigsaw and circular saw. It is powerful & accurate, without being too heavy and compared to the mains tools they replaced these cordless tools are a huge improvement for DIY use.My positive experience of Li-Ion batteries in other tools meant that when I replaced my old Ni Cad drill after the battery died, I went for Li-ion andchose Bosch based on previous good experience with Bosch tools plus the positive reviews they receive.I have two 1.5 amp/hr wireless rechargeable batteries, which is a great system – just plonk the tool on the charger when it’s not being used to top up the battery. These have been fine while refitting my kitchen – the only tool that seems to munch through the battery is the circular saw so I will be buying a larger battery when the price is right.A great planer and cracking range of tools from Bosch – not cheap but you can feel the quality and there are some great discounts if you shop around.

I purchased this planer four months ago and can honestly say it is a fantastic addition to my Bosch cordless toolkit! To clarify, the planer is supplied without batteries, but is supplied in an L-Boxx complete with inlay’s.I have wanted a cordless planer for year’s, but as the owner of a large range of 18v Dewalt tool’s, it was in my eye’s too expensive to change to another brand as Dewalt don’t produce a cordless planer.I bit the bullet and sold my aging Dewalt NiMH tools and stepped up to the Bosch 18v LI range. It has been worth the upgrade, the tool’s are lightweight, have a long runtime, fast cooled charging and some good deal’s on the range and the batteries. In use the planer is effortless, lightweight and well balanced. Easy to change and read depth settings, left or right dust extraction, braked motor and safe trigger operation. The supplied Sortimo L-Boxx is a great addition, it will keep the tool well protected, is stackable with your other kit and look’s the part. The only storage system that comes close is the Dewalt T-Stak, which are really good bomb-proof cases. If you’re looking for a decent cordless planer, it really is between this and the LXT Makita. My choice has been the Bosch, the batteries are cheaper, faster charging and the robust stacking L-Boxx’s compliment well.

I’m a Bosch fan, but this is one of the best tools that I have purchased from Bosch. It’s a game changer – if you like carpentry, this planer will wow you!

It’s a great tool very easy to use and well balanced doesn’t cut as far as was advertised but still very good and strong when used with a 4amp battery 👍

Overall good, just a shame all the extras are extras….I.e. dust bag, parallel fence etc

Having owned a Bosch mains powered planer for some years, I was sceptical about a cordless battery version. In short, very impressive performance, doesn’t have the torque ‘kick’ when starting up, seems to have some electronic braking when switched off and most noticeable of all, very lightweight and easy to control. In summary, highly recommended!

Surprise, surprise, there is no bag or guide. Only the tool and the L-boxx. Else, it works great, and a bit quieter than GHO 26-82. Leaves smooth finish as you would expect.
