Power to weight ratioA powerful 710 W motor delivers fast work progress, to a maximum cutting depth of 2.6 mm, but the planer’s size, weight and ergonomic design make it comfortable to handle. |
Stability and accuracyA sturdy, flat, aluminium base plate with an improved front shoe design enhances the planer’s performance. The shoe’s rigid plate structure, with ‘hooking’ ribs on all four corners and a tight fit within the housing, prevents distortion. These features, along with a new shoe adjustment system, ensure more accurate and stable operation. |
SafetyTo avoid the danger of accidental activation, this corded planer features a lock-off switch which prevents unintended start-ups. |

Tidy workChip ejection can be conveniently set for left-sided or right-sided clearance, according to preference. A dust bag or extractor can be fitted to the ejector for a tidier and less dusty working environment. |
User comfortThe planer’s handle is ergonomically shaped, with a soft-grip covering, and can be used comfortably by both left-handed and right-handed operators. A ball-jointed swivel cord helps to give freedom of movement and avoid tangles. |
Additional aidsCutting depth can be easily adjusted in 0.1 mm steps to 2.6 mm. The Bosch Wood Razor system, with its one-blade drum, gives high-quality cutting results with no need to align a second blade. A centred groove is provided for chamfering applications. The planer is also fitted with a spring-loaded park shoe, to protect the work surface. |

I purchased the Bosch Professional GHO 26-82 D Corded Planer 14 months ago now for various remodelling and renovation projects in my home and workshop, and I am delighted with my decision. This planer has proven to be a reliable tool that meets all my expectations, making my woodworking tasks smoother and more efficient.Build Quality: 5/5The first thing that struck me about this planer was its robust construction. Made from high-quality materials, it feels sturdy and built to last. The ergonomic handle design also allows for a comfortable grip, even during extended use.Performance: 5/5When it comes to performance, the GHO 26-82 D does not disappoint. The 710 W motor provides plenty of power, effortlessly handling hardwood and softwood alike. I was impressed by its smooth planing action, which left no tear-out on the surface. The adjustable cutting depth (up to 2.6 mm) is incredibly useful, allowing me to tailor the plane’s capabilities to my specific needs.Ease of Use: 4.5/5Setting up and operating the planer is straightforward, thanks to its intuitive design. The locking depth adjustment is easy to manipulate, and the chip ejection system does a great job of directing wood shavings away from the working area. My only minor “complaint” is the weight. At 2.8 kg, it’s slightly heavier than some competitors, but I actually found it balances out well in my hand and allows to ease into tougher jobs overall.Versatility: 4.5/5This planer performs excellently on various surfaces. I’ve used it for edge planing, rebating, and even for smoothing out rough areas on reclaimed wood – and it has handled everything without issue!. The addition of a parallel guide allows for perfect straight cuts, enhancing its versatility even further.Value for Money: 5/5Considering the features and performance, the Bosch GHO 26-82 D offers great value for the price. It’s an investment that is well worth it for anyone serious about woodworking. Furthermore, Bosch’s reputation for reliability and customer service adds to the overall value proposition. If you’re in the market for a powerful, efficient, and reliable corded planer, the Bosch Professional GHO 26-82 D is a fantastic option. It combines solid build quality with impressive performance and ease of use, making it suitable for both professionals and dedicated DIYers. Highly recommend!

Really impressed with the power and ergonomics of this corded electric hand planer. I have used the planer on softwoods as well as hardwoods such as Oak, Iroko and Mahogany. It cuts through everything I have thrown at it with ease. The planer is fairly chunky but is quite comfortable to use. It will cut anywhere between 0.5mm and 2.5mm in a single pass. The results are nice and smooth. The machine was properly calibrated out of the box and no adjustment was to the blade was needed.Being able to change the chip ejection direction easily from the left to the right makes it easy to keep the vac hose out of the way of your work piece. The power cord is decent quality and has a decent length to it. The front shoe is a decent size which makes it easy to get the plane even as you run it in as you start your pass. The case is the older style and not the L-Box type but it is decent and has plenty of room for the power cord and jointing guide.Overall an excellent quite tool that is reasonably priced when compared to the slightly more expensive Makitan or Dewalt corded planers.

Arrives in a substantial box that contains the plane, fence, dust bag and a dust nozzle for a hoover. I use a Karcher vacuum which fits. This is an excellent plane. Certainly one of the best at this price. The other top plane at this price is the Makita but that doesn’t come with any sort of chip bag or extraction. You might know that planers really do make a mess, so in my humble opinion that’s a huge mistake. It’s quiet, powerful and does it’s job very well. I love the dual port design. It’s really handy to be able to switch sides for the chip extraction. You really don’t want to run a planer without extraction and there are times when the bag or hose needs to be on the opposite side. Not just because it might be in the way, but also it may balance the plane better.Calibration was off with my blade, it was about 1mm too low so set to zero it still made a substantial cut. This is annoying really, the last thing you want to do out of the box is calibrate a plane. At that point I lost the plane so I can’t even tell you whether it is possible to calibrate the Bosch. Some planes are fixed so you better check that. It’s useless if you can’t calibrate the depth cut.I am sort of mixed on the single blade. No doubt its easier to replace just one blade rather than two, but the plane was also noticeably less smooth than a two blade plane. By that I don’t mean the finish was, just the feel of the plane was not so good.Amazon often has sales of Bosch gear and I picked mine up at a fantastic price. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed unless you ever use a plane set to zero to take off small bumps in the wood. Then you should look elsewhere.

This is an excellent machine. Planes beautifully, with no chipping. Glides through timber like a hot knife through butter. Very impressive. Heaps of power for even the hardest of wood type. Can plane up to 2.5mm in one go or can be set anywhere in between, in 0.1mm increments using the dial. The dial is easy to set and the depth is absolutely bang on.The planer is beautifully balanced and very well made, which is what you would expect from Bosch Pro products. The spring loaded rear safety shoe is a clever idea which means you don’t have to let the blade wind down before setting the machine down. It also has a safety trigger so you cannot accidentally start the machine when you pick it up. Comes with a very generous amount of power cable.Comes in a large plastic moulded carry case and includes a parallel fence for guided planing, a large dust bag and an attachment for those wanting to connect to a vacuum cleaner.Highly recommended.
