Bought this for my son, he’s a plumbing heating engineer apprentice, in his 4th year. We try to supply him with the most reliable tools, well DeWalt what else can I say, it’s what we have got him from the very start. This site supplied this with a battery no other site could match.

Reviewed December 2023:For battery power tools, I’ve subscribed to the DeWalt ‘ecosystem’, where as for wired I tend to buy from a choice of 3 or 4 manufacturers, literally whatever is quality and on special.I bought this a few months ago because it was an amazing deal on Amazon, and I’d been waiting for them to drop below a certain price point.I already own 2 wired versions (on different sides of the world), a makita and a bosch (green rather than blue pro). What makes the DeWalt different (besides battery) is that has a ‘tool-less’ snap fitting, it works really well because it eliminates the ‘fannying around’ with an allen key to change the tools.Only negative point to this is that you need to use the matching tools, not necessarily from DeWalt, but they can’t be a full circle fitting, but need to be partially open. It meant that the Bosch tools I already had don’t fit. (not a major problem long term because tools wear out and its a case of not buying ones that do not fit).Operation, the machine doesn’t vibrate as much as the Bosch and it feels like its the same of not more power. (not compared from a watt perspective to be fair). I can’t comment about the Makita as I’ve not used it for a year.First use was digging out grout from around tiles, and using a 4.0ah battery, I reckon I got about 1 hour pretty constant use. This would imply that with 2 batteries of this capacity you could use it continually while charging one battery and then swapping. Its important to note that the weigh of the battery can mean something if used for a longer time especially if in an awkward position, this is one situation where battery vs. wired might need considering.Multitools are one of those tools that once you own and use, you always wonder how you managed for so long without one.. I had that when I first got the wired Bosch a few years ago. Going from wired to battery didn’t give me the same ‘revelation’, but I’m certainly glad I bought it.
