Nice and compact, plenty of cutting power. It appears to be very well made and given how lethal these things could be, it has appropriate safety features. The shadow alignment system works well in subdued light but if you are using it outdoors in bright sunshine then forget it.

This review is after one day of operation and for the 774 model with XPS and not for the 773 without XPS. The specifications for both are near identical, apart from XPS. The XPS function is a light that casts a very narrow shadow of the blade to show exactly where it will cut and works very well. Slightly pressing the blade trigger, with the safety interlock in either the on or off position, switches on the light.Supplied is a spanner for the blade and a 2 size hex key for some of the (very minor) assembly and adjustment. My saw wasn’t cutting square out-of-the-box. Adjustment for this was easy but required a SMALL set square and a T20 torx bit, preferably in a ratchet driver to give leverage as the adjustment screws were very tight. The unit gives the appearance/feeling of being sturdy and well built. Once set up operation was smooth and the cut accurate. It comes with a 216mm 30 tooth blade which gives minimal breakout at the back edge of a cut in stud wall timber. I will fit a blade with more teeth. The unit is 11kg so needs a fairly study work table, or equivalent, to stand on for ease of use.Negative pointTruly awful instruction book. At the back of the book is some safety related text but most of the manual is pictures. The first page indicates you should be wearing a wet-suit, be blindfolded and you should never plug the equipment into the mains nor operate it if carrying a teddy bear. In some places it doesn’t get much better and an understanding of the pictures may only come with a bit of playing around with the equipment – with it unplugged. (no points removed for manual as the saw works well)

I’m not a particularly practical person when it comes to doing stuff with wood but I needed to make a frame to box in a new cistern and bought this because I wanted a sliding mitre saw. I’ve done things like this before and always ended up with something a bit ‘rustic’. Now they say a bad workman blames his tools but I’d argue then when you have decent tools it makes it much, much easier for a bad workman (like me) to do a decent job. I’ve just built another structure to raise a water feature on the garden off the ground. What would have taken me 2 weekends of swearing, crying and trips to casualty has just been completed in about an hour. The result is millimetre perfect. The top of the frame had to sit inside a recess on the bottom of the water feature and it does that perfectly. I can only attribute this to the quality of this saw because I’ve never achieved this before. When I built the box to hide the cistern, I also used this to cut the panels. Luckily they were 60cm wide so I used the slide to cut half way through, turned the panel round and did the same in the other direction so I was cutting from the middle to the edge. I took it very slowly, used electrical tape where I was cutting and there is almost no sign of any chips to the covering. And this is a blade that came with the saw with big old teeth on.There’s a really neat light that is above the blade. This casts the the shadow of the blade onto what you’re cutting which makes it very easy to line things up.All in all, this is definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made in terms of tools.

The saw is good for intended purpose, it has good power to deal with all types of materials. For the price I would really expect it to tilt both to the right and left but it only goes to the left. The shadow line is completely invisible in daylight, if you use it outside ensure you put a scribe where you need to cut. It is a nice little saw if you move around a lot, it is light enough to carry and will tackle most onsite jobs with ease, limited to the size of cut obviously. The blade it comes with is sufficient for most jobs around the home All in all I’m pleased with the purchase and would recommend this for D.I.Y or for jobs where quick cuts of small width timber is necessary,

I had an evolution rage sliding mitre saw which was fine but difficult to set up for accurate cuts. Thought it was time for a decent brand so was a toss up between bosch and dewalt. I saw this which was a returned item although I didn’t realise it when I ordered it just before xmas (wondered why it was so cheap!). I almost cancelled the order but thought I would see what it was like first. It came double boxed as the original box had damage however the saw obviously had not been used as it was in pristine condition and everything was included.I ordered a set of Saxton finer tooth blades (40 and 80 teeth) which give a nice clean cut. I have the saw fitted to a Titan mitre saw stand (only £45 from Screwfix) and it’s perfect for my needs. I’m cladding my staircase in solid oak so wanted a decent saw for cutting and this was accurate straight out of the box.Overall very happy. I bought the saw for £168 and it was delivered 2 days before Xmas. It’s now £295 on Amazon so also a bargain!
