Excellent grinder! Very powerful and stable, I love not having to worry about a cable. This makes the whole job feel much safer. The 115mm blade width is great for versatility, I could cut curves in 25mm paving slabs easily. Would highly recommend.

Sorry I’m a bit biased, I’ve still got Makita products I’ve been using for years with no failures so I stay with what I know. Great lightweight easy to use product

Works well

Lightweight, doesn’t sound as quick but once applied to in my case 40×40 rail/strutt and 10mm rodd etc. Cutting and shampfer soil pipes it’s Brill and the (brake) on the grinder itself is spot on. I’ve had the standard grinder in hand many other times but it’s just weighty, Brill addition to my brushless kit and good good battery power indication too worth every penny. Buy a D quick release clamp to make it even better its spot on.

I couldn’t understand how people were saying the guard was huge and oversized. I thought they were exaggerating. They were not. It’s so big it looks like fisher price designed it. Product seems good and the variable speed is great

Great quality tool from Makita. Perfect for what I needed. Easy to use with great safety features. Not too heavy, feels quality in the hand and has breezed through everything I’ve used it for so far.

Good

Its a lot heavier and longer than I expected, especially when I compare it to the Bosch 240v grinder I’ve been using to 20 years although they have balanced it well around where you hold it.The e-brake could be faster to stop the disc. The way the manual explains the constant torque thing is confusing as heck but the reality is the function of the mystery tech is excellent and seamless during use. Marketing have just dropped the ball here.I HATE THE GUARD. Its too deep and gets in the way of everything including the disc removal tool. So you end up trying to undo the thing at a really awkward angle instead of having the two levers (the main tool body and release tool) near each other to get the best purchase. Utterly stupid idea! I think I’m actually going to cut the guard down myself and reform the lip to give it rigidity. There is a mystery guard accessory which although includes fitting instructions, doesn’t provide any suggestion as to its intended use. As the standard guard is sooo deep I fail to see when you would need to fully enclose the guard further because you cannot see where you are cutting. I feel like I’ve wasted money on this pointless accessory. If you are reading this then your probably doing your homework. Careful not to get tripped up by the underwhelming Makita website where it looks like all the grinders are basically the same. They lack detail in the specs. As a clue they are all different in subtle ways. Trigger or button switch, brushless or not, X-lock quick release and variable speed control etc. Shame none of them state the actual motor power.50/50 if the grinder is a good buy as there is much disappointment in the brand caused by this item.

a nice and powerful brushless motor with a brake fitted for safety, although longer and with a higher body than the old makita grinders the extra oomph from the motor makes it an easy choice.
