The Makita DHR171Z 18V Li-Ion LXT Brushless Rotary Hammer is a 17mm cordless Rotary Hammer powered by 18V Li-ion battery (not included) to deliver up to 1.2 Joules of impact energy and 4,800 impacts per minute.

The Makita DHR171Z 18V Li-Ion LXT Brushless Rotary Hammer variable speed trigger allows the operator to adjust the speed based on the material or application and the constant speed control automatically applies additional power to the motor to maintain speed under load. The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life and generates less heat build-up.

The Makita DHR171Z is a lightweight drill with excellent SDS drilling qualities, the low rotational speed of just 680rpm is combined with a high 4800 impact blows per minute giving the drill amazing drilling power, holes are drilled in concrete in a fraction of time compared to other drills that are just starting to make an impression.This drill bought for use off ladders or at height where one is unable to apply pressure against the drill bit, the Makita does not need any force to be applied the drill cuts a hole in seconds without the normal bounce due to the high impact rate and slow turning speed, this allows the SDS bits to work as intended and at their best.The drill is lightweight at just 1.6Kg so can be used one handed, ideal for ladder work, the DHR171Z is just an SDS drill and cannot chisel or stop rotation, it is designed for one purpose that it excels at, SDS drilling.

It’s light and powerful little sds not probably for 16mm holes and more thru brick walls. I always use it now in drilling small holes up to 10mm. It’s very handy and I got it £86 bare also which is a good price.
