The body of the Makita DHR242RTJW 18v Li-ion LXT Brushless 24mm SDS is separated into the upper and lower housings at the foot of the handle portion where the houses are joined with vibration absorbing cushion rubbers. This unique rubber construction suppresses the transmission of vibration to the battery terminals, whereby minimising battery failures such as terminal breakage or poor electrical contact.
The easy to grip handle is designed to give maximum power thrust, providing a comfortable grip in any operation, whether it be overhead application, drilling with palm up or palm down.
The Makita DHR242RTJW 18v Li-ion LXT Brushless 24mm SDS features battery protection circuit designed to protect the battery from damages due to overheating, over-discharge and overload current.
The DHR242RTJW is supplied with DX06 Dust Extraction System for dustless drilling applications.
Makita DHR242RTJW 18v Li-ion LXT Brushless 24mm SDSÂ is not compatible with G-Series batteries.
Makita DHR242RTJW 18v Li-ion LXT SDS-Plus 24mm Brushless Rotary Hammer complete with 2 x 5.0 Ah Li-ion Batteries, Charger and Dust Extraction System
Supplied in a Makpac Case
The DHR242RTJW cordless SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer is powered by 18V Li-ion LXT slide type battery, to supply energy to the powerful 18V brushless motor with variable speed controlled by trigger to allow the operator to match the speed to the application and material and constant speed control, to deliver up to 950 rpm, 4,700 bpm and 2.0 J impact energy for high performance.
The DHR242RTJW is equipped with constant speed control to automatically apply additional power to the motor to maintain constant speed under load, electric brake for increased operator safety, torque limiter to stop the bit rotation if a bit jams and one touch sliding chuck for SDS-Plus bits for quick and easy bit installations and removals.

Makita BL1850B 18V 5.0 Ah Li-ion LXT Battery
The BL1850B 18V 5.0 Ah Li-ion LXT battery has a 4 stage LED battery fuel gauge indicator, works with current Li-ion chargers and has a 45 minute charge time on both Makita DC18RC and DC18RD chargers, and a 110 minute charge time on Makita DC18SD charger.
Lightweight, weighing no more than a 3.0 Ah Li-ion LXT battery, has a longer run time and battery life.
Multi-contact terminals reduce electrical resistance and increase connection stability, withstanding against vibration and ultimately to ensure a current supply to the tool.
The BL1850B can be charged at any time, has no memory effect and no discharging is required.
The Li-ion range is both lightweight and shock absorbing. It can deliver up to 430 per cent more working capacity during its lifetime, compared to Ni-Cad, and is 40 per cent lighter than Ni-MH. The Li-ion battery has minimal depletion of power during use or in storage over its lifetime.

Makita DC18RC 14.4V to 18V Li-ion LXT Charger
The DC18RC is a compact charger for 14.4V and 18V Li-ion LXT slide type batteries.
You can expect a BL1820B 18V 2.0 Ah Li-ion battery to charge in 24 minutes, BL1830B 18V 3.0 Ah or BL1430B 14.4V 3.0 Ah battery to charge in 22 minutes, BL1840B 18V 4.0 Ah battery to charge in 36 minutes, BL1850B 18V 5.0 Ah battery to charge in 45 minutes and BL1860B 18V 6.0 Ah battery to charge in 55 minutes.
The DC18RC features a changing melody and cooling system. The melody plays on completion of charge. The Charger is equipped with a cooling fan for heated battery in order to enable the battery to provide its own performance.
The DC18RC is not compatible with G-Series batteries.

Makita DX06 Dust Extraction System
The DX06 Dust Extraction System is suitable for use with Makita DHR242 SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer with one touch easy installation and removal.
The DX06 slides on to the DHR242 and automatically operates when the drill is turned on and is equipped with depth gauge, slide adjustment for different size drill bits and large dust box cover with button opening for easy emptying.
The DX06 has a HEPA filter that traps particles with an efficiency rating of 99.75 per cent with a dust filter cleaning dial to remove excess dust from the filter to maintain vacuum efficiency and performance.
Cal Hallows –
We bought this drill predominantly for demolition of our kitchen and bathroom and it did not disappoint. With the right SDS-Plus bits it rips through plaster, tiles, lino, concrete and anything else you can throw at it. It’ll just chug along the whole time in the hammer setting, helping you destroy, chip away at and generally obliterate anything in its path. It’s worth noting that this doesn’t ship with any SDS-Plus bits so you’ll have to purchase separately what you think you’ll need for the job. Makita make a great SDS kit of various bits (Makita B-52059 17 Piece Makpac Sds-Plus Set) which uses the same Magpac system to clip onto the included case. Well worth the investment as it includes many drill sizes as well as chisels of various sizes. With near continuous use between me and my partner we were able to full strip out a kitchen in a day and the drill didn’t skip a beat. By the time one of the included batteries had been fully used, the one on the quick charger supplied with the drill had charged back up to full and we were back to business. The second picture I’ve included shows some damage the drill sustained from taking a knock from falling demolitions. I thought the drill was done for but it turned out to be an easy job reattaching the mode selection dial and we were back to chewing through the demolitions. The vacuum unit is great but does require some adjustment to set the correct depth to ensure that it’s making good vacuum pressure into the hole you’re drilling. When it’s fully configured you’ll have barely any cleanup as the unit will do an excellent job of suctioning all the dust away. When you’re done you’ll be left with a hole that is nigh on perfectly clear of dust and debris. The vacuum doesn’t have a massive capacity if you’re doing a tonne of drilling out, so be prepared to empty it often if that’s the case, but it’s quick and easy to tap everything away into a bin when it’s full. This is a tool that is a dream to use, you can’t help but have a massive grin on your face when this thing chews through whatever you throw at it when doing big home renovations.
