HR2630/2 240V 26mm Rotary Hammer SDS-Plus
The Makita HR2630 26 mm 3 Mode SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill has a powerful 800 watt motor, to deliver up to 2.4 Joules of impact energy, 4,600 ipm and 1,200 rpm.
Compact and lightweight.
Variable speed trigger allows the operator to adjust the speed based on the material or application and has 3 mode operation, for rotation only, hammer with rotation or hammer only. The modified operation mode change lever enables to switch from rotation to hammering mode and vice versa without rotating the chuck. The torque limiter stops rotation if a bit jams to protect the motor and operator safety.
The Makita HR2630 26 mm 3 Mode SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill has 40 different bit angle settings, a one touch sliding chuck for easy bit instalation and removal, depth stop and a forward / reverse lever positioned to allow the brushes to be located so that the drill maintains the same speed and torque in both forward and reverse.

Really good drill – very good quality at a good price. Has a lovely weight and feel to it and a nice long power cord. Bought to replace a DeWalt that had worn out after a few years and the repair guy recommended the Makita. You need to be aware that it is an SDS drill which means it takes SDS bits (which have grooves in the sides). If you want to use this with normal bits you need a chuck adapter- there are loads on Amazon for not much money. But SDS bits are far better if you are drilling into masonry or heavy timber as they don’t slip in the chuck. I have a small rechargable drill for lightweight work and use one this for the bigger jobs.

I have always used traditional drills with hammer actions to drive holes in brickwork and other substances. I bought this as I needed to put up numerous boards on brickwork and concrete and really could not be doing with the usual hassle with a traditional drill. OMG!!! Why did I not buy one of these before? Where I was previously taking forever with loads of frustration to drill holes in bricks, breeze blocks and concrete, this little baby does it in significantly less time and with ease. You can also set up the depth you want it to drill to. I also bought the Makita drill bits for the machine and they are well worth it. Now I look forward to putting stuff up rather than putting it off endlessly because it is now a pleasure rather than a chore!

Love this thing! I picked it up for a house renovation which it completed happily and is still going strong. I deliberately went wired as I think SDS needs that extra umph that you can’t get without spending mega bucks on a cordless. The cord, however, is really long and sturdy which is handy when working on site.I’d argue it’s a little overkill for day to day DIY use (I actually purchased a Makita cordless after). but for anything more it’s absolutely fantastic. Used for drilling LOTS of big holes into brick and blockwork, also used with chisels and scutch combs for removing tiles, bits of walls, chasing out, demolishing bathrooms/kitchens etc etc. Just a super versatile bit of kit.The fact it’s also an absolute bargain, has a torque limiter (I believe – please double check!) and has a hammer only mode make this a superb buy for somebody who needs to do ‘proper’ work but doesn’t need to to all-in at professional prices.

Cuts through concrete like a knife through butter! Saves time and a lot of back ache! Worth the money spent. Only bought it this month so will update the review in a few moneths time. So far so good. Just remember that if using the chisel function you will need to dip the sds plus bit head in grease to maintain the chuck. Dont use cheap grease as I’ve read that the grease can eat up the chuck’s rubber rendering it useless. Ive just played safe and gone for Makitas own sds grease but i see that castrol is equally good.

Excellent quality as with all Makita equipment. Best choice to drill in any type of wall. I got a cordless combo drill and I only use this one for drilling in walls; it goes through anything like butter (I went through 24cm cavity wall from outside with no effort, hammer drill performance is very good).Chisel function is pretty nice and powerful (for this size). It’s a heavy tool (compared with cordless ones) but a beast and makes the job very easy.Recommended.

If you’ve never used a rotary hammer drill before, you are in for a treat!Feels a similar weight to a conventional hammer drill but with so much greater force. I blunted a standard drill bit on a normal hammer drill before switching to this, 2 seconds later the hole was the required depth and width with minimal effort – like a hot knife through butter.Cord is a really good lengthReally is a game changer if drilling into solid walls a lot.I have used a Bosch alternative before, but prefer the more classic set-up and grips.Easy to use and change drill bits – would recommend getting some grease for the first few used as a minimum though.

Solid and effective. Bought this as I live in a place with concrete walls and ceiling and making holes is a challenge. I’ve a perfectly respectable standard hammer drill with regular masonry drill bits, but have found it difficult to get it to work. This Makita SDS drill is a big contrast – it manages to chew through the concrete without difficulty. Just remember that you need to buy SDS drill bits to fit.Recommended.

Great features but a little heavy. Not a problem for me as I never have to drill loads of holes per day but might be for someone in the trade. I purchased this as my Bosch twist drill was not strong enough in brick and block sometime so wanted SBS to stop but rotating in chuck. Seemed a little noisier than Dewalt drills I’ve used. Comfy to hold but does seem heavy as mentioned before.

I bought this as a cheap SDS drill and it seems to work quite well. I especially like the integrated auxiliary handle which is easy to adjust. And you can control its tightness which seems useful as a safety feature if you’re getting kickback. The main weakness seems to be the instructions. The exterior packaging doesn’t even mention SDS and the written instructions are too generic, describing a variety of models in a confusing way. To really understand the drill, it’s best to go online where there are some good YouTube videos which explain and demonstrate it.There aren’t any accessories but I wasn’t expecting any. I already had some huge bits for the specific job in mind and will get more as needed.
