This drill is brilliant we have extremely hard bricks in our house and even most corded drills struggle I bought this for my husband as a birthday present and he loves it. It is a good weight without being very heavy and the performance is great. Easy to use and well balanced very versatile having 2 batteries is a bonus and they hold charge very well. Can’t go wrong with this drill certainly well worth the money

I got this to replace a cordless drill about 15 years old, which was ok but I was reduced to DIY battery packs, soldering in replacement rechargeables to keep it going. I had to use an odd size of battery and when my last batch of imported Chinese cells (not at all cheap) turned out to be such low performance I’d basically call them fakes, I gave up and binned the drill. I wanted something ok but for domestic use and the Ryobi got good reviews. I was taken by the idea of one battery for several tools. Since batteries had been the total problem with the last drill, that seemed something worth paying for.Anyway, this drill turned out to be miles better than the old drill, far more powerful, 2 speed gearbox turned it into a serious screwdriver. Good speed control. Really solid build. Excellent chuck. Just a totally different league. I’ve not got out my (old but superb) 700w corded hammer drill since I bought this cordless, its up for most stuff (even 10mm bit drilling through hardwood plywood was really easy)It came with a couple of 1.5AH batteries and a charger. Never yet found out how hard to have to use it to flatten even one battery, and it did jobs that easily killed off the old drill batteries. It does take quite a while to recharge a battery. For me that does not matter a jot but not sure about professional day long use.Anyway an excellent drill, very happy, they’ve now got me looking at their other stuff that uses the same batteries.

I bought this drill when we moved house and its certainly had lots of use, its a fantastic piece of kit and does the job. The batteries last plenty of time and the spare battery really comes in handy.Sadly after 6 months the drill chuck stopped working and the bit wouldnt spin when pressed against anything and the drill bit got stuck, couldnt turn the chuck anti clockwise – i contacted amazon and they have issued me a full refund (the product has a 2 year guarantee). Even though this has happened i like the drill so much ive ordered it again. This is the only reason i’ve given it 4 stars overall.

I generally don’t like power tools. I find them too noisy and I never feel like I have control of them. I guess like anything it takes practice, but I’d rather practice with peaceful hand tools.I had tried electric screwdrivers in the past and they were rubbish, and I have witnessed the results of some builders destroying the heads of screws with careless drill drivering. However, when it came to a decking project I decided that I was never going to be able to do all that screwing by hand, and so I took the plunge to buy a drill driver that everyone seems to be using these days (you youngsters with your modern ways!).I found a review of this on a website somewhere – which sadly I have lost track of – and it seemed that this was going to be light enough, but powerful enough for most of what I needed. So I bought this kit with charger and spare battery.I was planning to mainly use it as a drill driver, as I didn’t expect the drill, especially the hammer action, to be up to much. I was very wrong. The driver works perfectly, and the torque control is pretty good, meaning I don’t destroy the screws, or embed them too far.The drill is great for wood – I have drilled 13mm diameter holes through 100mm fence posts easily. The most surprising thing is that the hammer action works really well for drilling into solid walls. I really though this little thing would lack sufficient power to do it, but it is quick and easy, and never felt like it was straining. It was also polite enough to do this fairly queitly.Having two batteries is great. The battery has died suddenly on more than one occassion, and having the spare already charged means no waiting. When left in the charger unplugged I did find the spare lost its charge, so that was a bit of a pain. I have started taking it out now but not sure I have tested the spare yet (getting old, can’t remember). I certainly won’t be marking it down for this.So I really love using this. Just works really well. I can’t compare it to any other drill driver, but I do know that I would recommend this one to anyone who needs one.I’d still be screwing the decking ten years from now if I hadn’t bought this and now I just want to put screws into everything…. Thanks Ryobi for a great product, and Amazon for selling it cheaper than everyone else!

Lightweight. Battery lasts for ages. Good quality and powerful. Great to have 2 batteries when doing large jobs.

Nice bit of kit, works well and certainly does what it’s supposed to do, price is pretty fair, it is quite heavy though but saying this it does feel comfortable in the hand, comes with 2 batteries which is great.

This is the first Ryobi tool I have purchased but won’t be the last based on the performance of this drill. I was sceptical of going the Ryobi one+ route and was just going to bite the bullet, pay the extra and go with Makita after using them at work and always being very impressed with the power, battery life and the amount of punishment they go through and just keep working. However, for the price, the Ryobi is awesome. Not quite the power of the Makita’s but similar, well built, reassuringly weighty and very nice to use. Used today to drill 8mm clearance holes and drive 100mm timber locks and didn’t miss a beat. The performance was much better than I expected. The only let down is the batteries and charger that come with the kit. The 1.5AH hour batteries do not last long at all and the charger is very slow. To slow to fully charge the 1st battery when using the 2nd. It took a good couple of hours after the 2nd battery was dead for the 1st to be charged. But for £75 you can’t ask for more. Just make sure you have plenty of time to spare between charging or be sure to purchase a faster charger and/or additional batteries.
